Fall Break

Fall Break will be observed Friday, October 13, 2017 through Monday, October 16, 2017.  Have a safe and enjoyable break!

No School on Monday, August 21, 2017

Due to the timing of the total solar eclipse that will take place on Monday, August 21, 2017, the Letcher County Schools will be closed.  School will return to regular schedule on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

Welcome Back!

The staff at Cowan would like to say "Welcome Back" to all of the students.  The year is off to a great start and everyone seems excited to embrace what the school year has in store.  Keep up the hard work, Bulldogs! 

Sending Valentine gifts to school

On Tuesday, February 14, 2017, you will be able to send Valentine gifts to school for your child.  These gifts will be given to them at 2:00pm that day.  If they ride a bus home, they can't have balloons or glass vases due to safety issues.

Congratulations to Our Archery Team

Congratulations to the following Cowan Archery members on their success in the Valentine's Shootout this past weekend.  Both the Elementary and Middle School teams placed 3rd.  Four archers placed individually, Aleigha Lawson-3rd in elementary girls, Rylee Lewis placed 5th in middle school girls, Ford Combs placed 2nd in middle school boys, and Jackson Meade placed 4th in middle school boys.  Way to go, Bulldogs!

PTO Sponsored Valentine's Day Dance

Cowan PTO will be sponsoring a Valentine's Day dance for all Cowan students on Friday, February 17, 2017.  The times will be staggered based on age groups.  

Admission will be $1.00, Concessions will be sold.

Kindergarten-4th grade 5pm-6:30pm

5th Grade-8th Grade 7:00pm-8:30pm

District Spelling Bee Champ Photo of Sign Saying "Congrats! Dakota Fields District Spelling Bee Winner".

Congratulations to the district-wide spelling bee champion, Dakota Fields.  On January 20, he competed against all other school winners in the county.  Dakota came out victorious and will represent Letcher County when he competes at the state level on March 11,2017.  Good luck, Dakota!  We are proud of you! 

Congratulations to Our Spelling Bee Champ!

Congratulations to Mr. Dakota Fields.  He is the winner of the Cowan Schoolwide Spelling Bee and will go on to represent our school in the district competition on January 20, 2017 at the school bus garage.  Good luck, Datoka!

Boys Basketball A Team Tournament

Come out and support our Boys' Basketball Team as they play in the A Team Tournament this upcoming week.  Our bulldogs will play on January 24 and 26th.  The final came will be held that Saturday/Sunday.  Good luck, Bulldogs!!

After School Meal

Once again, the cafeteria will be offering an after school meal Monday-Thursday.  A hot meal will be offered free to students until 3:20pm.  If parents would like to purchase a meal, the price is $3.25.

Boys B and C Team Tournamen

The Boys' Basketball B and C Team tournament will be hosted here at Cowan on Saturday, January 14, 2017.  Good luck, Bulldogs!yes

Congratulations to Ms. Faith Dollarhide.  She was chosen as Cowan's Basketball Homecoming Queen for the 2016-2017 season.
