LKLP Head Start is a nationally recognized, curriculum-based preschool program designed to promote school readiness. Our holistic approach to servicing children and their families greatly improves a child's long-term personal growth and academic achievements. All centers are KY All Star Rated! We are taking applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Please reach out to your local Head Start center to fill out an application for our preschool and our Early Start program today. We are excited to inform you that Letcher County Public Schools will be offering an enrichment camp this summer at Cowan Elementary for students who are currently enrolled in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. The camp will run from June 10-June 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, with both breakfast and lunch provided. If you don’t have access to complete the online form, you can call your child’s school or Central Office and someone will assist you in filling out the form.

Arlie Boggs Elementary School will be CLOSED today, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, due to a power outage. All other Letcher County Schools will be on the regular schedule.

Any student - boys or girls- in grades 6, 7, and 8 who wish to play middle school soccer are asked to meet at the Whitesburg Middle School Football field to sign up and receive information. This is for any middle school student in the county. The meeting will take place on Monday, February 19th at 5:30pm.
