🐾💙🐾💙🐾💙🐾💙🐾💙🐾💙Each year Kentucky's assessment and accountability system provides an overall performance rating for each school and district based on state test scores. The ratings are color-coded ranging from red, to orange, to yellow, to green, to blue.
Last year we were excited when Letcher County Central scored a high performance rating of green.
However, we are even more excited to finally share our 2022-23 results.
We are BLUE—not just Cougar blue but a “very high” performing blue rating on Kentucky’s accountability system! 💙
This system factors in our test scores, the quality of our school climate and safety, our graduation rate, and postsecondary (college/career) readiness.
To put this in perspective, we are in the TOP 10% of Kentucky’s 228 high schools who received a “very high” (blue) performance rating (#13 in the state, in fact!) —and we are the ONLY school in the 14th region to receive this.
The catastrophic flooding in our county created many obstacles for our school, including a shortened school year, a longer school day, displaced families, and sharing our building all year. However, even with these challenges, we rose to the VERY TOP!
We’re very proud of our students, faculty, staff, and families for this major academic accomplishment, and we are ready to celebrate tomorrow! 💙🐾🎉 #cougarpride #mountainstrong
