Unfortunately, there are several roads that we can’t travel with buses and ask that our parents work with us to meet the buses at a central location. We will continue to work with our city, county, and state officials on needed repairs. As roads are repaired, we will return to our regular routes. Free meals will be served at West Whitesburg Elementary for children ages 1-18 on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 11:30 am to 1:30 PM.
The Letcher County Schools will be closed on Monday, February 24, 2025. Now that most of the snow is gone, we can better assess road conditions to ensure bus routes are safe. We will continue to work with county and state officials to get our students back to school as soon as possible.
Meals will be available for pick up today at West Whitesburg Elementary from 11:30AM till 1:30 PM for children ages 1-18 years old.

The Letcher County Schools will be serving free meals for children ages 1 to 18 at West Whitesburg Elementary on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

There is power outage at MJP. We are working to get it restored. Due to the current weather conditions, it is safer to keep students in the building rather traveling in the rain. We are monitoring it closely and will take measures to keep kids and staff safe.
Out of an abundance of caution, the morning preschool dismissal at West Whitesburg Elementary will be delayed until the weather improves. Also, the afternoon preschool class at West Whitesburg Elementary is cancelled for Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Letcher County Schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. today, Friday, January 31, 2025, due to high water. Again, students who live at Blair Branch, Racetrack Hollow, and Goosecreek will meet buses at their usual locations.
