We have been notified by the railroad department, the repair work on the tracks near Letcher School has been rescheduled for next week. Bus drivers will return to their regular schedule this afternoon. We will reroute our buses on Monday and Tuesday, September 11&12 as previously posted. We will keep you informed as we receive any updates. Thank you for your patience.

Attention LEMS Parents & LCCHS who live in the LEMS district: The Railroad will be working on the tracks next to Letcher Elementary & Middle School the week of Tuesday, September 5 through Friday, September 8th. The road will be closed from 7:00 am – 5:00pm which is going to greatly affect school traffic. We are planning to reroute some of our buses to accommodate. Bus #206 -Josh Webb- will run his normal route 10 minutes early and should be able to cross the tracks prior to closure. He will not re-route like previously planned. Bus #818 – Bill Hatton – will complete his route on a normal time and schedule but will need to reroute around Premium to LEMS Bus #2422 – Madge Sturgill – will begin at the mouth of Spring Branch and will travel up Hwy 7, Garner Mtn, (any student who lives between the Letcher Fire Dept and the tracks will need to meet at the mouth of Spring Branch). She will travel to LCC and then reroute thru Premium to LEMS # 315Heather McElroy & #1422 Diane Sparkman will do normal pick up and drop off. To accommodate the tracks they will meet at the mouth of Southeast Road. Diane will take all High school to LCC and Heather will transport all Elementary to LEMS. #921 - Rebecca Fields- Begin at Red Star curve and will travel to Crases Branch, along Hwy 7 to LEMS. If students live in this area and normally ride #2422 – Madge Sturgill - they will need to ride 921 on these days. #921 will shuttle from LEMS to LCC in the mornings #720 Jordan Maggard bus route is not affected #6210 Nadean Hayes bus route is not affected in the morning, the afternoon will be later Afternoon buses may be 1 to 1- 1/2 hours late coming home.

Due to the railroad track closure on HWY 7 at Letcher school beginning tomorrow, Sept 5, ...Josh Webb -Bus#206 will run 10 minutes early in the morning. His run is from Dean JCT-HWY 7 N-Indian Creek-Bever Dam-Rt 1410- HWY7&931 JCT-All HWY 7 N- Letcher. This should allow him to cross the tracks before the closure and keep him from rerouting as originally planned.

Hello parents. Students who ride bus 206 Bryan Dean's bus that goes through Sandlick and Deane from LCC will be late this evening. They will be close to 45 minutes to an hour late this evening. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you.

We are eager to get WWE back in their building. There are a few last minute things to take care of so we will not have open house on Sunday evening. Open house will be on Monday 8/21 from 4:00-6:00. School will be in session on Monday morning. Doors will open at 7:20am. Students will be escorted to their classes by WWE staff and central office staff. We look forward to welcoming our students back to "the hive"!!

Good Afternoon As eager as we are to get WWE back in their building, we want to make sure it is in the best condition it can be for our students. Because of that, Open House at West Whitesburg Elementary will be canceled for this evening. We are postponing the start date for West Whitesburg Elementary until Monday August 21. I apologize in advance and ask for your patience as we do the best job we can to make our building the best it can be. Whitesburg Middle School will start tomorrow, Wednesday, August 16 at their regular schedule. They are ready and waiting to see their students. Good Evening, Tomorrow will be the first day of school for all students in Letcher County Public Schools with the exception of West Whitesburg Elementary and Whitesburg Middle School. We have all been anxiously awaiting the opening of West Whitesburg Elementary School, and it is looking great. However, we want to put the finishing touches on the space and have decided to push the start date for WWE and WMS until Wednesday, August 16. We appreciate your patience with us as we make final preparations to welcome back our Yellow Jackets. Opening Day for Letcher County Public Schools for all staff will be on Monday, August 7, at Letcher County Central High School, with breakfast starting at 6:30 and activities starting at 8:00 a.m. in the auditorium. Teachers, please bring your Chromebooks. We look forward to seeing you there!

There is a tree blocking the road in Crases Branch. Therefore, the bus will not be able to go into that area to pick up students.

It’s Parent Member Election Time! Letcher County Central High School SBDM Council The parent members of the SBDM council are elected by the parents, receive training, and serve one-year terms. It’s now time to choose our parent members for 2023-2024 school year. Nominations for parent member of the SBDM council will begin on Monday, April 17th and will end Friday, April 28th at 4:00 p.m. Nominations are due to Kim Sturgill, School Secretary, in the school office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023. Please pick a nomination form up at the school office if you are interested in being a candidate or nominating a parent.
