Due to the winter weather advisory, the Letcher County Schools will be closed for Friday, December 20, 2024. This will not be an N T I day. While the snow is not supposed to start until later in the morning, we want to be able to transport students home safely.
Due to school being canceled yesterday, the Christmas Lunch for Kindergarten, first grade, and fifth grade has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Friday, December 13. These times are a little bit later than the original date due to our trip to WWE tomorrow to see "Elf Jr."
All tickets were pre-sold.
Kindergarten lunch will be at 10:15.
1st Grade lunch will be at 11:00.
5th Grade lunch will be at 12:40.

Parents of Kindergarten, 6th, and 11th grade students, please make sure your child’s required immunization record has been updated as required by 702 KAR 1:160. If your child has completed their required immunizations, please send the completed and updated documents to your child’s school. If not, schedule an appointment as soon as you can with your child’s healthcare provider. Our school district depends on these records to be sure your child is immunized to protect the health and wellbeing of all the children in the classroom. Thank you for your cooperation and support. Out of an abundance of caution, due to the weather forecast, we will be releasing all schools at 2:00 p.m. today, November 21, 2024. We hope to get all students home safely before any bad weather arrives. Thank you for support and understanding.
Martha Jane Potter Elementary will host a Veterans Day Program on Monday, November 11 at 1:30 pm. We would like to invite all our students' family and friends who served in the military to come to this program, presented by our students, and be our guests of honor.

Tomorrow (Monday, 10/28) begins our "Good Choices Week." For students that would like to participate, Monday's theme is red or MJP Cardinals shirts.
The Polar Xpress Ice Cream Truck will be at MJP tomorrow (Thursday, 10/17) if you’d like to send money for your child to have a treat. Prices range from $2-4.
Good afternoon, Martha Jane Potter families! We hope you have had a wonderful and restful fall break.
As we prepare to come back to school tomorrow morning, I also wanted to remind you about our "Parent Academy" tomorrow (Monday, 10/14) from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Teachers will be available for a traditional open house.
However, we will also have short workshops throughout the evening on topics to keep you informed and better understand your child's journey at school.
Multiple community partners will be on site with information and services for families.
Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck will be on site and available for purchase if you'd like to bring money to purchase a drink from their truck.
We hope to see all our families at this event designed to help each of us better serve our wonderful students!
The Letcher County Schools will operate on a one hour delay for Tuesday, October 1, 2024 to allow bus drivers to have better visibility of any remaining debris on or near the roadway.
A couple of reminders before school tomorrow:
(1) We will be on a one-hour delay for Tuesday, October 1. This means the school will open at 8:15 and classes will begin at 8:45.
(2) The book fair is at MJP if you would like to send money for your student to shop tomorrow!
