If you have a child in the 5th grade at West Whitesburg Elementary and you have NOT turned in copies of his or her records (birth certificate, social security card, immunization certificate, recent physical, etc. ) please do so as soon as possible.
West Whitesburg Elementary will be having our end of the year awards day on Monday, May 22nd in the Letcher County Central High School auditorium.
Grades 3-5 will start at 9:00 AM. Doors will open at 8:45 AM.
Grades k-2 will start at 1:00 PM. Doors will open at 12:45 PM.
We will have a table outside the main doors of Letcher Central to sign in and get a visitor's tag.

WWE 5th grade parents, we are going to do something new this year with our 5th graders. We are going to do a 5th grade promotion during awards day on Monday at 9:00 AM. Students will go across the stage and receive a certificate. Nothing long or fancy. Students may dress in regular clothing.

West Whitesburg Elementary will have parent S B D M elections on Friday, May 12th, from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Voting will take place in our main office at the votech school. Voting is open to all parents/guardians of current West Whitesburg students as well as parents/guardians of in-coming kindergarten students.
If your child is in Ms. Allie or Mrs. Kasey's class and attended the 1st grade field trip yesterday, 5/4/23, then they were exposed to Covid. Please monitor for symptoms.
West Whitesburg Elementary's 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be KSA testing beginning on Thursday, May 4th. It is important that students arrive at school on time by 7:40 AM so they may begin testing with their class.
4th and 5th grade students will be receiving KPREP awards for the 2021-22 school year on Wednesday, May 3rd at 9:00 AM in the LCCHS auditorium . Parents are welcome to attend the ceremony.

Students received a survey for West Whitesburg Elementary's Save the Children program. This survey must be completed by parents by May 1st, 2023. The homeroom class with the most responses will get a pizza party.
Thursday, April 27th, will be the last day of West Whitesburg Elementary's after school tutoring program for the 2022-23 school year.
West Whitesburg Elementary will be completing inventory on students' school issued Chromebooks, tomorrow April 21st, 2023. Please make sure your child brings his or her Chromebook to school tomorrow.
Kona Ice will be coming to West Whitesburg Elementary tomorrow, April 19th, 2023. A size small will be $3.00.
West Whitesburg Elementary will be having an Easter Egg hunt on Monday, April 10th. Students will need to bring their own Easter basket.
Letcher County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, April 4th, and the rest of the week for spring break.
