5th Grade News This Week:
Tuesday- No School
Wednesday- Living History Museum
Parents may attend from 830-10.
*Please send an extra change of clothes. We will be going outside and having a cookout with the kids after.
Thursday- We will be taking the students to Ernest Cook Park after lunch. We will have Kona Ice. Students will need to bring money for that.
Friday- Field Day at WMS football field

small soft cooler with drinks if they want
any school appropriate games they might play
snacks
change of clothes
Please make sure your child dresses in cool clothing as it will be hot!
West Whitesburg Elementary will have parent S B D M elections on Friday, May 12th, from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Voting will take place in our main office at the votech school. Voting is open to all parents/guardians of current West Whitesburg students as well as parents/guardians of in-coming kindergarten students.
If your child is in Ms. Allie or Mrs. Kasey's class and attended the 1st grade field trip yesterday, 5/4/23, then they were exposed to Covid. Please monitor for symptoms.
West Whitesburg Elementary's 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be KSA testing beginning on Thursday, May 4th. It is important that students arrive at school on time by 7:40 AM so they may begin testing with their class.
4th and 5th grade students will be receiving KPREP awards for the 2021-22 school year on Wednesday, May 3rd at 9:00 AM in the LCCHS auditorium . Parents are welcome to attend the ceremony.
If you have a 5th grade student at West Whitesburg Elementary and have not yet turned in records for your child's cumulative folder (copy of birth certificate, social security card, immunization certificate, current physical, current vision and dental screening, etc.) please do so as soon as possible.
Students received a survey for West Whitesburg Elementary's Save the Children program. This survey must be completed by parents by May 1st, 2023. The homeroom class with the most responses will get a pizza party.
Thursday, April 27th, will be the last day of West Whitesburg Elementary's after school tutoring program for the 2022-23 school year.
West Whitesburg Elementary will be completing inventory on students' school issued Chromebooks, tomorrow April 21st, 2023. Please make sure your child brings his or her Chromebook to school tomorrow.
Kona Ice will be coming to West Whitesburg Elementary tomorrow, April 19th, 2023. A size small will be $3.00.
West Whitesburg Elementary will be having an Easter Egg hunt on Monday, April 10th. Students will need to bring their own Easter basket.

We want to wish our academic teams and archery teams the best of luck as they travel to their state competitions. Because we have so many students and staff participating and attending these tournaments and conferences, Letcher County Schools will be closed on Friday, March 17, 2023. This will not be an NTI day.
